First day of school

During my early morning drive to school, I could’t help but to compare this day to my many first days of school growing up.  Looking back, over stimulation, insecurities, and narcissism got the best of me.  Being a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP), I was a crier.  I’m still a crier in intense situations, don't hold that against me, though.  Anyway, things are different now, naturally.  I have very little fear, I challenge anything that might make me feel uncomfortable, and I embrace change.  I'm like a tiger...Rawr!

On my way to school, I had a lump in my throat.  I had the most intense feeling of finally being on track with my life!  It has only been a of detour of 26 years to get here!  I'm grateful the detour wasn't any longer!  I'm so freakin' excited, I almost can't stand it!

The entire day was totally RAD!!!  I have never called a first day of school “rad” before; it was usually “I hate it!  I never want to go back! (Sniffle, sniffle, sob)”

Home-mak-er: one who manages a household.

Did you know there are young people in this country that do not know what a homemaker is?  I found one, and had to explain the profession to her.   That encounter really made me think about stuff.  Too much stuff for this blog.  I’d like to know what you think, though.

It is great that women are free to pursue their own dreams and careers.  A woman that chooses homemaker as her career, with or without children, has a very important and praiseworthy profession that is not given proper credit.

Whether it is an economical or personal choice, not everybody can do this job, and not every body wants to do this job.

Orientation

I am nervous about being in a classroom again.  What if I’m the oldest in the class?  I don’t do well under observation.  I freak out when I have to take a test.  I hated school and college, except for the fun parts…

The fun parts of college were things that I wanted to do.  That’s the difference this time around.  Baking/Pastry school is my choice!

Many of my new classmates are there for a career change.  I am excited to get to know them better, hear about their life stories, and how they came to the realization of culinary science as their next career.

This school is very different.  The inspiration rushes at you when you walk through the door.  The chefs are overflowing with knowledge, and enthusiastic to share it.  Most of my kitchen skills are self-taught.  Many say I have a natural talent.  I just have a passion for making good food.  This passion that has been brewing for more than 25 years can finally be pursued.

“In life, do everything once…And the fun things twice!!!”

Makeover!
